How does a Postpartum Doula help?
The information available regarding parenting, newborn care and babies is endless. Postpartum doulas are specifically educated in the mother’s postpartum experience and newborn care; bringing the latest research, information and techniques to you. In addition, postpartum doulas can connect you with local support resources available to new families. Bringing this knowledge into the home can help new parents decide what path is right for their family as everyone settles into their new roles.
During the prenatal visit, we will discuss many choices that come up after the baby is born. In determining the choices that are most important you, I can provide fact based information on numerous choices like: cloth diapering vs. disposable diapering, nursing, pumping, vaccination, breastfeeding support groups, new parent support groups and much more. In addition, visiting my postpartum clients prenatally, ensures I get to know their home and anyone, both people and pets, that I may be interacting with during each visit. At this time I ascertain that family’s greatest anticipated needs and set up a schedule of visits that works within a family’s budget.
I provide uniquely tailored support based on every family’s individual needs which can ease the stress of transitioning into parenthood for several weeks postpartum.
